MacAulay Farm was a former Stornoway Trust property named after Dr T B MacAulay (1860 -1942), president of Sun Life Assurance, Montreal.  Further information on Dr T B MacAulay can be found in the following article which appeared in the Stornoway Amenity Trust Homecoming Calendar (2009).

There is an interesting booklet available for download here (PDF, 5MB) describing the reclamation of peat land experiments carried out during the 1920/30s in association with the North of Scotland College of Agriculture.  The location of the farm can be seen on the map below:
